Recap: 2/9 PTO Updates

Instead of a meeting on 2/9, we did updates via email. Here’s the news:

Principal’s Report - John

  • We seemed to have navigated the latest covid spike pretty well, thanks to a group of subs that we have been able to count on and Hamilton staff members willing to cover for colleagues. To date, we have not had to set up study halls in the cafeteria or gym due to multiple uncovered classes. Hopefully, we will continue in this direction of having enough coverage!

  • The district really plans on building our playground this coming summer. With the asphalt and equipment, we are talking about a quarter million dollars! The good news is that there will be no community fundraising required, as the district has the funding to support this project in total. The only downside is that because the district is providing all the funds and we are on a tight timeline, we do not have a lot of say on the exact design of the playground.

  • We will receive our budget and staffing allocations for the 22-23 school year soon. The district is warning about budget cuts. I am hopeful that our projected increase in enrollment will help to soften the budget cuts, as funding and staff allocation are based on enrollment numbers.

  • Most all covid protocols continue to remain in place, with one small change: Drinking fountains are again up and running!

  • The wall tile project is nearing an end after some delays. I am hopeful that the tile work will be entirely completed by spring break.

PTO Budget Overview/Treasurer’s Update - Adam

  • We have $9,994.64 to spend, so please send your funding requests our way, teachers and students!

  • Roman Candle fundraiser in April

  • We’ll do another First Day School Supplies fundraiser this spring
