Recap: 3/8/23 PTO Meeting
Thanks to those who attended the 3/8 PTO meeting! Principal John Burkholder and teacher/Hamilton parent Shelly Duffield attended, along with Board Members Marwa Bassiouni and Adam Schrager. Here’s the recap!
Principal’s Report
Principal Burkholder is retiring!!! The district sent an email about filling the position and is waiting for three strong candidates before they form a committee.
Staffing - Hamilton is almost fully staffed, and allocations have been submitted for next year. John was able to get an additional spot next year.
Enrollment is anticipated to go up next year. (Hamilton currently has 728 students). The teacher shortage has been difficult for schools with DLI programs; Hamilton received 13 new students from Cherokee this year, and we anticipate that number will go up next year.
There will be more staff openings next year due to retirement
John will make sure teacher openings are posted on 4/6 for intra-school transfers
Buses for next year: Still yellow buses; start could be between 8:20-9am-still TBD.
Kids love the new playground, and it looks great! One more piece of equipment will be added this spring, and paths will be added for wheelchair accessibility.
PTO will reimburse counselors for playground balls and other items.
Staff appreciation week is May 1-5; PTO and parent volunteers will provides lunch one day.
8th Grade Graduation is Thursday, June 8th at West High School. Arrive at 9 am; event 10am-11:15am. Students go home with their families.
Donation Requests
The Hamilton Health Office needs more snacks! Please donate snacks by dropping them off in the main office and letting staff know they are for the health office. Thanks!
2023-2024 PTO Board Positions
We are confirming with volunteers for the Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer Roles.
We still need a President, Fundraising Chair, and Volunteer Coordinator.
It could also be helpful to have a communications volunteer to help with email intake and responses, PTO emails, and website updates.
